Obviously I treasure my photos more than pretty much anything. My memories are pretty special and important to me as well, but my memory isn’t always great so I rely on my precious photos. I love to capture personalities and expressions you might not be able to get. But, what I’m blogging about today is wedding photography. I don’t shoot many weddings anymore, but I knew what I was looking for in my own wedding photographer.
I thought it might help someone to know how I chose my photographer. His name is Brett and this is his website: http://www.makingthemoment.com/
First I was looking for someone who would work with me on the date. I can’t tell you how many photographers would say “OK, well, when you pick a wedding date let me know.” Okaaaay……so you can tell me it isn’t available when I have my heart set on you?? I honestly didn’t even contact that many because it was difficult to find the style I wanted. Style was my priority here. I didn’t want to have to tell my photographer every little detail about what I wanted. I gave Brett some ideas and feel confident he’ll run with it.
Personality! I wanted someone fun and someone I hit it off with right away. We bonded over cameras right away so I felt comfortable. Plus, he’s Italian so what more could one want?? haha
Professional. My photographer had to be a true pro. We talked business so I know he isn’t a hobbyist.
Price wasn’t too much of a concern because the photos are my priority here. I suspect it could be a very long time before all of us are together again and all looking so nice so I wanted to get some great photos of us and all of the kids. I even have dedicated wall space just for these photos!
Equipment. Really. Make sure your photographer has some good camera equipment. Knowing how to use it is even more important. You probably won’t know if your potential wedding photographer has good equipment so you can look it up or ask someone who knows.
We have a pastor and a photographer. We’re close to finalizing our dinner plans too. Now we need clothes and a ceremony location!
Yes, I know posts are more exciting with photos, but I will get that that next. I have many sessions to blog about!
