You all know I don’t normally photograph weddings, but this was a quick and fun ceremony and I just couldn’t resist because Jen is a great friend and one of the nicest people I know!  Their ceremony was at the courthouse and was very sweet because it was just about them and their marriage.  They weren’t interested in all the fancy stuff – they just wanted to be married to each other.  :)

They have this in a 30×40 and it looks incredible!

This was one of favorite photoshoots.  Jordan started emailing me about 2 weeks ago and asked if I would be interested in photographing a surprise proposal.  We went back and forth for days making plans to meet and figure out where and all the details before she asked me if I was OK with both of them being women.  I had no problems with it and was even more excited.

She was waiting for a personalized gnome to arrive so she could put it in a geocache.  It didn’t arrive on time, but she dropped off a geocache box at my home filled with notes and a photo of the gnome so my girls and I could hide the box and get ready for the shoot.  Jordan, I really appreciate your trust in me!

The day of the shoot, my girls and I waited in the trees pretending we were doing our own session.  We were all so excited and anxious!  Jordan kept texting me what was going on and giving me an ETA.  It was such a special moment and really fun to see Lana’s reaction.  She had no idea and was very excited!

Jordan shared with me everything she did to plan for the surprise, including designing the ring, asking Lana’s dad for his blessing, ordering and waiting for the gnome and all the little white lies she had to tell so it would all work out.

Jordan tried to pull Lana into the shade for me, but it didn’t quite work out.  haha

That is what her parents called her.  I can see why too!  Dominique fought cancer for 5 years and she passed away in March at the age of 9.  Although she fought a horrible disease for most of her life, she seemed so happy to me.  I didn’t get to know her very well, but she was so sweet and positive.  Rarely do I photograph families in the studio, but it was too cold for Dominique and we didn’t need to make her uncomfortable.  The session was done for Kids Cancer Crusade and is a really great organization for kids!

Miss J has the sweetest little face and the most amazing lips!  She is also my great niece. : -)  I’m not really old enough to have a great niece, but my husband is. haha

This is so important I had to blog about it.  How do you see yourself when you look in the mirror?  We are our own worst critics and it’s sad.  Every woman has beauty, but we don’t usually see it in ourselves.  I try to point things out to women as I’m having a conversation with them – things like how pretty their eyes are or smooth and creamy their skin is.  We just don’t see it in ourselves and I used to think I was seeing something different in women because I’m a photographer and know what to look for, but now I think we are just all this way.

THIS is why I love to photograph women so much and plan to do it more often.

Can we all please make it a habit to compliment our women friends and our daughters and their friends a lot more often?!  Of course it has to be geniune, but it’s more appreciated than we realize.

Watch this video, but grab a tissue first.

I’ve been photographing this family for a few years now and love watching them grow.  When I leave their session I always feel inspired and renewed.  And exhausted!  ha!  I don’t know how the parents manage each day.  They never complain and always seem happy and full of energy.  They are probably laughing at this right now.

Sweet C has Fragile X Syndrome and Autism.  His mom and dad create awareness so he’s not alone in this world.  They are such awesome parents.

She melts me!  Little I also has Fragile X Syndrome.

Twins I and L.  L is way beyond her years and takes care of brother and sister.  It’s pretty cool to watch!
